Srikandi & Arimbi: Margaria Batik and Batik Enom’s Commitment to Preserving Indonesian Batik

Yogyakarta, October 5, 2024 – As part of their ongoing effort to preserve batik as an Indonesian cultural heritage, Margaria Batik and Batik Enom officially launched their newest community, Srikandi and Arimbi. This community is created to celebrate modern women who keep the values of batik alive while embracing contemporary culture.

The Srikandi & Arimbi community was officially introduced on October 5, 2024, at Kaktus Coffee Place, Jl. Gondang Raya No. 4-5, Condongcatur, Yogyakarta.

This community is designed to be a creative and cultural space for those who cherish batik in a modern context. With the vision of promoting creative and innovative expressions among women and youth in preserving Indonesia’s heritage, Srikandi & Arimbi strives to empower women and younger generations through art, culture, and social connections.

Indah Sri Pratiwi, Head of Operations at Margaria Group, shared her excitement about this community launch.

“This is a significant step for us to create a space for modern women who want to explore and celebrate the culture of batik. By combining tradition with innovation, we can inspire future generations to appreciate and preserve our cultural heritage,” she said.

At the launch event, Margaria Batik collaborated with Astana Batik to host a batik-making workshop. Twenty participants were guided by the Astana Batik team, learning the steps from pattern drawing, waxing (nyanting), to the finishing process. Participants were able to take their batik creations home as mementos.

The event also featured an exhibition of the latest exclusive collections, Citra Nusantara & Saujana, showcasing a fusion of traditional and modern designs from Margaria Batik and Batik Enom.

“Currently, our community members consist of loyal customers, but moving forward, we hope this community will grow to include a wider audience—not just within Margaria Group but also from other groups like travelers and tourism enthusiasts—to share experiences and knowledge,” Indah added.
